Cabo San Lucas Travel Guide

If you’re looking for a beach destination, I highly recommend Cabo San Lucas. It is by far one of my favorite places in the world. Dhane and I have gone twice so far and plan to make it an annual tradition. I love Cabo because is the perfect place to relax by the beach or pool, eat great food, go on adventures, and explore a city - all in one!

Below you will find my recommendations on where to eat, stay, and things to do in Cabo. I will continue to update this blog post each time I visit so check back soon!

Where to Stay

#1 - Pueblo Bonito Monte Cristo Estates

During our second visit to Cabo, we stayed that villas at the Pueblo Bonito Montecristo Estates. These villas are perched atop of the hill above the other Pueblo Bonito properties (one is mentioned below). So far, we have only stayed at the Pueblo Bonito properties mainly because we really love it here. The villas are just beautiful inside and out. The one we stayed at had three bedrooms, a private pool and stunning views. I would highly recommend this property if you are staying we a group of people.

Depending on how you book your stay, you can still get access to all of the other sister resort restaurants and pools. There is a shuttle service that will pick you up and take you to any one of the other hotels. We stayed here for three weeks (!) and got to experience what it would be like living in Cabo - going grocery shopping, cooking at our villa, hanging with new friends, etc. We had the best time and I cannot wait to go back. Check out more of this property here.

#2 - Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort

The first time we went to Cabo, we stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Golf & Spa Resort. It is such a beautiful place, as you can see from the pictures. It’s an adults-only resort with all-inclusive options, which is what we did. The resort offers a wonderful spa, daily fitness classes, free access to the gym, and excellent service! We had a wonderful and huge 1-bedroom suite with our own butler - crazy! We spent the first half of our week at this resort only. We lounged by the pool or at the cabana and ate at the different restaurants on the property. We didn’t like the food here so much BUT they have one or two sister restaurants that are a short ride away on the same property. Once we discovered these restaurants (which were amazing!), we kept going back.

If you want a quiet adults-only resort, then stay at the Pueblo Bonito. If you want a resort with a lot of options and don’t mind large families, then check out one of their sister resorts, such as Sunset Beach or Montecristo Estates here.

Whichever Pueblo resort you decide to stay at, definitely check out the following:

  • Sunday Champagne Brunch at La Nao - You will feel like you’ve gone to food heaven!

  • La Frida Restaurant - The most delicious Mexican seafood and tequila we’ve had!

  • The Market at Quivira - This is a food hall with some delicious food! Whether you want more Mexican food, pizza, a smoothie and salad or dessert, this place has it all!

  • The rooftop infinity pool at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach - so gorgeous!

Where to Eat

#1 - Flora Farms

Flora Farms was hands down my FAVORITE thing about Cabo! It is like Disneyland for the wellness lover. It consists of a restaurant called Flora’s Field Kitchen, a farm where all of the food for the restaurant is organically grown, a ranch where animals are humanely raised, a few unique shops that have beautiful hand-crafted items, adorable dogs that live on the property, a spa, cooking classes, and even cottages that you can purchase to live on! I can go on, but check it out for yourself here.

I highly recommend that you (at some point) experience all of their meals - brunch, lunch, and, dinner. We have gone for each, and everything is so good!

  • Brunch: On the weekends, they have a wonderful brunch with oh-so-delicious food - the eggs and potato hash were my favorite (I made my own version of the hash here).

  • Lunch: For lunch, we had the avocado toast, which was bomb! (The pictures do not do it justice.) We also had their delicious pizza topped with loads of the freshest arugula you’ll ever taste and delicious cocktails.

  • Dinner: When we went for dinner, I had the bruschetta and ahi appetizer and a fish platter for my main (I can’t remember the name of it), but both were delish. Last but not least, we fell in love with their chocolate cake. Can you tell we’re foodies? lol. It was by far the best cake we have ever had.

Even if this place is an hour away from where you’re staying (as it was for us) it is so worth the taxi ride to get there. We went twice on each trip!

#2 - Cocina Del Mar

The Cocina Del Mar restaurant is located at the beautiful Esperanza Resort & Spa referenced above. The views are breathtaking as the restaurant is perched right atop cliffs that overlook the resort’s two private beaches. This place was seriously magical, and I cannot wait to go back! The food was very good, but not as delicious as Flora Farms. I’m a sucker for a delicious cocktail, and I 100% approve of theirs. I mean, just look at the beautiful bar and lounge. We went for an early 5:30pm dinner so that we could catch the sunset. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty but filled up by the time we left, so I would recommend making reservations in advance! Check out more here.

#3 - La Frida Restaurant

LaFrida Restaurant is located at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Golf & Spa Resort. It is a more elegant restaurant and offers high-quality Mexican food. I didn’t take any pictures of the food so I cannot remember what I ordered, but I know we loved the food because we went back a second time on our most recent trip! What we do remember is the margaritas! They have a bartender who comes around with a bar cart and makes your drinks on the spot. Ironically the bartender in the photo was the same bartender we had both times we went! lol. He hands down has made me the best margaritas I have ever had! If you check out this restaurant go and look for him lol. Reservations are required and there is a dress code (resort elegant) in order to enter. Check out more here.

#4 - Salvatore G’s

Salvatore G’s is located in downtown Cabo and is known as the best Italian restaurant in Cabo San Lucas. You will agree with that statement after dining there, trust me! They have the biggest servings I have ever seen. My one and only photo I have from the place is above and it really doesn’t do the food size and quality justice. Just trust me when I say, if you ever go to Cabo, put Salvatore G’s on your list! I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and Dhane ordered the lasagna. I barely made a dent in my food and we had so many leftovers, so you can easily share a plate with your partner or friends. Check out more here.

*Next time I go to Cabo I want to try Acre and Malibu Farms

Things to Do

#1 - Sunset Cruise

At the time of writing this, I cannot remember the name of the company that took us on the sunset cruise as our hotel concierge set this up for us, but they are very easy to find through your hotel or a quick Google search (I will work on finding out though!). Anyway, we decided to do the dinner sunset cruise. It took us to the famous Arch of Cabo and Lovers Beach. Dinner and booze were included. Half of the cruise was spent taking us along the coast to see these sites, the beach hotels, and some beautiful homes stopping at the outskirts of ocean to eat, drinks some more, and watch the sunset! Titanic pictures and music definitely happened here! lol. The second half was spent bringing us back in the dark while listening to some music. It was just gorgeous!

#2 - Downtown Cabo

To be honest, both times we have been to Cabo, we hardly left our resort unless it was to eat or go to the grocery store. I definitely go to bed early so I usually don’t go to Cabo to party lol. With that said, there is definitely a night life in Cabo. There are plenty of bars, clubs, restaurants, and shops in downtown Cabo. It’s worth taking a trip downtown to walk. around and get the full Cabo experience. I’ve only walked through at night and the next time I go back, I would love to walk around during the day.
